Even with afternoon temps pushing well into the triple digits, the riders that attended the 2015 Methow Singletrack Solstice were still treated to a fun weekend of Methow Valley mountain biking. Friday evening's registration pick-up at the Winthrop pump track enabled several riders to take some laps, hit the new jump line, and even do some impromptu smoothing and improvements to track as the evening light faded.
Saturday started early with loading the bikes and the riders on buses and trucks for the hour long trip out the Twisp River road to the ride start at Poplar Flat campground.
From the drop-off point, riders enjoyed 10 miles of fine singletrack on the Twisp River Trail, then climbed out of the Twisp River valley and over Thompson Ridge to descend through the Sun Mountain Trails with a lunch stop at the Chickadee Trailhead (the hot climb was made more bearable by our roving aid moto distributing cold water and frozen Otter Pops to the riders.)

Also at the Chickadee trailhead, riders were able to hone their skills on a number of features set up for the event.
The weekend wrapped up with a Sunday breakfast at the Winthrop Town park with raffle and photo contest prizes being handed out. All in all, a successful and fun weekend. Planning for 2016 is already under way!
